1. Question: What is the purpose of this project?

Answer: The purpose of the Dixie Highway Flyover Project is to improve capacity and safety for the traveling public along Dixie Highway by eliminating the crossing at the FEC Railroad as well as the intersection with NE 2nd St. The project will also provide direct access to Pioneer Park for the public traveling southbound along Dixie Highway. The project will improve aesthetics, lighting, drainage, and landscaping to the Cities of Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton.

2. Question:
When is the project going to begin?

Answer: The Design portion of the contract is currently underway.  Construction is also currently underway and began Mid March 2010.

3. Question:
When will the project finish?

Answer: The project is currently scheduled to finish in the Summer of 2012.

4. Question: How much does the project cost?

Answer: Design and Construction costs for the project total $39,525,385.00.

5. Question: How is the project being funded?

Answer: This project is being funded through The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, also referred to as the Federal Economic Stimulus.  Through ARRA funds, Broward County was able to fully fund this project.  For more infomation on how The Florida Department of Transportation is using the ARRA funding statewide, please visit http://www.dot.state.fl.us/planning/economicstimulus/.

6. Question: Will I be able to drive, bike, and walk through the construction project limits?

Answer: Yes, throughout the life of the project, the public will be able to drive through the project limits.  Access will also be maintained for pedestrians and bicyclists during the project.  Please observe and adhere to all posted construction signs during the project.
